Remit and Terms of Reference for the Centre for Environmental Geochemistry – Centre Management Board (CEG-CMB)

Remit

The CEG-CMB exists to:

  • review existing and future research collaborations within geochemistry between the University and BGS
  • monitor output/activity from the CEG
  • to collect information from respective Schools regarding collaborations and activity and to report this to the CEG Director ahead of the CMB
  • provide advice to PVC Research (University of Nottingham) and BGS Director of Science and Technology on aspects of the operation of the CEG

The PVC Research and the BGS Director of Science and Technology, in turn, may provide advice on the CEG to the VC (University of Nottingham) and the BGS Director, relevant to their remit.

Terms of Reference for the CEG

  1. To review research collaborations and establish strategic priorities for the CEG science leaders.
  2. To keep abreast of the user bases within the University/BGS and be aware of further opportunities.
  3. To support and advise on funding opportunities for the CEG.
  4. To review the outputs, especially scientific quality, of the collaborative research based on publications.
  5. To give guidance to the Director of the CEG on improving collaboration.
  6. To anticipate changes in the requirements of the CEG and the future (e.g. collaboration focus, CMB members etc.).

Membership constraints

Membership of the CMB will be decided by the Joint Advisory Board (JAB), the group that looks after collaborations between the University of Nottingham and BGS. The JAB will take advice from the CMB. The CMB will include the Director of the CEG, the laboratory leaders (all ex-officio) within the BGS, and representatives from the main collaborative Schools. Members other than ex-officio will be invited to serve for terms of up to five years.
